Vanke Hill City: A New Paradigm in Residential Landscape Design

Ge Qiu's Award-Winning Design Fuses Urban Living with Natural Ecology

Located at the foot of Yinhu Hill, Vanke Hill City is a low-density residential community developed by Shenzhen Vanke. With its unique natural ecological resources, the project stands out from other residential designs. It offers the convenience of metro and road network, three parks, and the renowned Vanke brand property management service. The design delves deep into the relationship between the city and architecture, crafting a theme from the perspectives of ecology, etiquette, streamline, and space.

The design process involved a comprehensive approach to landscape productization. The project required upgrades and improvements to certain landscape elements, which were specifically targeted in this project. Stones were used to replace the PC material, and combined with the firefighting foundation to create an effective drainage ditch. The project also provided the residents with high-quality BEGA luminaires, enhancing the overall aesthetic and functionality of the space.

One of the unique aspects of this project is the functional module approach used in the design. This approach allowed for a flexible combination of functional spaces, where residents' activities could permeate into other functional modules. The design also optimized the path to the trash collecting location and beautified enclosures for trash locations, creating a courtyard-style entry deck for the residents.

The project was completed in June 2019 in Shenzhen. The design team, led by Ge Qiu, included Yongcheng Zhong and Bing Li. The team faced the challenge of landing the new landscape product without an overall landscape plan for the entire project. However, through research and a focus on customer experience, the team was able to overcome these challenges and deliver a successful project.

Vanke Hill City is not just a residential community, but a testament to the possibilities of modern urban landscape design. It has received recognition for its innovative approach, winning the Silver A' Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, and Vanke Hill City certainly fits the bill.
